This class is for teenagers 13 to 21 with performing experience. This original production, conceived by Carol-Ann Black, is an encore of our Winter 2000 production and Summer 2003 outdoor performances and serves as a wonderful introduction to the magical plays by William Shakespeare. Emphasizing “The Bard’s” use of language, we will attempt to bring a deeper understanding and appreciation of Shakespeare’s body of work. The production consists of Shakespeare’s most well-known scenes and monologues (i.e. the three witches scene from MacBeth, the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet, Jacques “All the world’s a stage…” speech from As You Like It, etc.), some with a twist (the “battling Juliets” and a Shakespearean insult contest whose winner is determined by the audience), that will be scored with rock and hip-hop music and set in different time periods to make Shakespeare accessible and entertaining. WE REHEARSE AND PERFORM AT THE ROYAL MAJESTIC THEATER (TRILLIUM ACADEMY, 15740 Racho Road, Taylor, MI)
